Shopify Shipping Rates
Shipping can be configured natively in Shopify to provide your customers with the rates you wish. The difference between what the buyer paid and what the retail fulfiller is owed for shipping will be invoiced back to the brand.
Carrier Service
The carrier service is an opt-in feature.
A carrier service (also known as a carrier calculated service or shipping service) provides real-time shipping rates to Shopify. Some common carrier services include Canada Post, FedEx, UPS, and USPS. The term carrier is often used interchangeably with the terms shipping company and rate provider.
AccelPay's carrier service will additionally query our API to ensure that:
- There exists some retailer(s) that can compliantly ship these items to the shipping address
- The shipping address is valid and is not a PO Box
- There is enough inventory to fulfill the order
Discounts are not passed to the carrier service. This means that if you have tiered shipping pricing, the discounts will be taken into account when calculating the thresholds.
Example: You cart contains 2 bottles totaling $50. The brand offers free shipping on orders $50 and above. The user applies a discount code of $10 lowering the cart amount to $40. The carrier app will not be aware of this discount and will still return free shipping.
Rates
Rates for the carrier service will default to the real shipping rate of the retailer. This setting can be configured differently through the AccelPay Fulfillment
public app in Shopify.
